ELK CROSSING – Use caution when traveling.

More than usual of late we have encountered elk standing in the road ways. This is due to them having to travel so much this time of year in search of food as well as them picking up salt crystals spread to help improve the road conditions. The majority of the elk we encountered have no fear of our vehicles and typically either stand there and check us out or walk off the road at a very leisurely pace.

We ask that you please be careful when traveling through Elk Country, especially around blind turns or while cresting hills, because you just don’t know where one will be standing next. Take a look at the photos below as they were taken today in 3 different locations. In each case we came around a turn or crested a hill and found we were not the only ones on the roadway at that time.
